Green Ginger Decatur Taking Place of Amaryn Thai Bowl?
Decatur Metro | June 20, 2011 | 12:59 pmA new liquor license request (see page 12 of the meeting materials) before the Decatur City Commission this evening shows “new applicant” Jen Huang is applying for a liquor license at 265 Ponce de Leon Place.
A quick check of Google Maps shows that this is the current location of Amaryn Thai Bowl. (Mellow Mushroom is also located in that building but seems to have a Suite # attached to its address, unlike Amaryn)
You may recall our big ol’ conversation about Amaryn’s potential closing last September.

They’ve had a sign in the front window for several weeks saying they’re now hiring for Green Ginger. I presumed it was another location. Interesting.
I always found Amaryn as a convenient place to get reasonably-priced Asian food. I especially liked the create-your-own soup bowl for only $6.50.
But when it changed to a sit-down restaurant with table service, I found I just wasn’t that into it. It was fine as a (mostly) self-serve place, but the quality of the food just didn’t warrant a full service environment. I’ve only been there a couple of times since the change. Garlic Thai became my go-to place.
