Decatur To Get First Big Taste of Atlanta Street Food on May 14th

    Decatur Metro | May 2, 2011

As you’re all food-truck obsessed, this seems like big news for many of you…

Darren at The Marlay writes in that their parking lot will host Decatur’s first street food event on Saturday, May 14th from 3-7:30pm, prior to Decatur’s Concert on the Square.

According to Darren, The Marlay will debut their own food truck, “Fish & Chips” at the event alongside other local street food trucks like Yumbii, Tex’s Taco, Grace’s Goodness, Westside Creamery and Tamale Queen.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this should be Decatur locals’ first chance to get a good sampling from Atlanta’s street food movement, no?

Full disclosure: The Marlay House is a DM sponsor

I for one welcome our new food truck overlords! :)

Our neighbor, Avondale Estates, hosted the many of the Atlanta area street food trucks during the Rail Arts District (RAD) Cruise in February of this year – and they were great! The food trucks were so popular that many of the vendors simply ran out of food.

Street food trucks are also planned for Avondale’s RAD Art-B-Q on this weekend, May 7-8. Check out the website, strap on your feedbag, and enjoy the Atlanta street food scene:

We are not all food truck obsessed, DM, but many of us are food truck intrigued. And who wants to drive across town to visit a food truck? Seems not to be in the spirit of things. Glad they are coming.

Let’s hope they don’t get a low health department score!

A couple of the trucks (Yumbii and the cupcake truck) have been to Atlantic Station – very yummy! I’m looking forward to it.

Yumbii’s fish tacos rock! Just had some today at Food Truck Fridays at Atlantic Station (close to my job) for lunch.
