Great story, and program beginning healthy habits at an early age, glad my kids will be OWL’s and Track Club members soon – Great job City of Decatur Schools..
Many, many years ago as a student at Oak Grove Elementary I participated in the Jogging Club (I think that was the name), which was started by then Principal David Francouer (father of former Atlanta Braves right fielder Jeff Francouer). As long ago as it was, I still remember participating in that Club being a definite source of pride.
Glad to know that sort of activity still exists!
This is awesome! Kudos to Kira for getting this going.
Kira is awesome. Didn’t she start Girls On the Run, too? We have cheered her running the ING marathon in past years. The marathon’s coming right up early Sun morning (3/20), repackaged for Publix.
Awesome! My eldest loves it, and many of his classmates were represented and shared their thoughts. Love Oakhurst.
My son is doing this at WPE, and I’m thrilled. He’s going to join me at Tour Decatur and run in his first race.
Yea, well this health and fitness angle is all well and good for TV, but what really matters is that the Owls beat those kids in purple and gold t-shirts from the other side of Candler!
Whatever – Your kids are gonna be eating my Clairemont Bulldog’s dust!!
Oh, it is SO on!
As I feverishly train my Wildcat pride regarding the proper way to de-bone an Owl, I would like Eric B to be at ease with the knowledge that it will be quick and painless for the fowl residing on the “other side of Candler.”
Hey Yo!…we found the Bulldog meat too bitter, so we fed it to the coyote. (insert evil professor laugh here.)
Great coverage Oakhurst and the City Schools of Decatur. I am glad to see such a energetic P.E. Class and continue to stay active.
Great program & a good story.
Let’s just make sure our superindendent doesn’t try to take credit for this one.
Guffaw…
Terrific story–the kids who were asked to comment were very impressive:) Kudos to the staff and volunteers who make this possible for so many students.
I second your comment about the kids…cute, smart and articulate! Another great piece on Decatur.
