“drunk white yuppie girl” — *giggle*.

Yes, there are the odd (and I do mean ‘odd’) drunks that make their appearance at this event. But on the whole, this event has been a fun, festive and surprisingly family-friendly way to see your Decatur neighbors and get to know the local business owners.

For those who’ve never been, it’s not somber like a sophisticated wine-tasting, but it’s not exactly a drunk-fest either.

It had a very friendly, neighborly kind of feel last year; I’d add ‘warm’ but it was really cold that evening and the always reliable (not) Weather Channel 10-day forecast now calls for temps in 40s and chance of showers. The wines were generally good and the hosting businesses cordial, but the mention of only 20 wines being available for tasting — that’s less than one per participating business — seems low. Not that this is supposed to be as big or varied as THE Decatur Wine Festival, but…..
