Don’t Freak: Decatur To Test CodeRed System This Afternoon
Decatur Metro | January 21, 2010From the Decatur Minute….
Today at 5:00 P.M. the City will conduct its annual test of the CodeRED notification system. In an effort to kill two birds with one stone, the message will include a brief announcement about the tornado outdoor warning siren installation sounding on Friday, January 22nd. If you do not receive your call, please contact Police Captain Kris Boyett at 404-373-6551 or kris.boyett@decaturga.com.
Is the Code Red the city’s reverse 9-1-1 system? In other words, if there’s an emergency — water main break, don’t drink the water, deadly gas, downtown taken hostage, the city runs out of garbage bags (kidding) — they call people in the city to let them know?
Yep.
Usually reserved for zombie alerts…
AMB, you don’t have a clue either….
T.J., I very much appreciate your insight on many issues, but I would please ask you to stop this bullyish “you don’t have a clue” thing.
People can make a joke about an important service or issue – the zombie one is an inside joke here – and still maintain “a clue”.
fine, color me gone, your loss
It’s odd, but I feel I’ve lost nothing.
LOL! Gibbets, sometimes I could just squeeze you, you little curmudgeonly curmudgeon, you.
Thank you, kind sir, for coming to my defense. Sounds like someone needs to loosen his bullets…
Meh, he just realized his name sucked. I bet he comes back to post as Cagney and/or Lacey.
OMG – I just laughed coffee out my nose with that one!
Or maybe Jessica Fletcher. Now that woman always had the clues!
Folks inside the city limits at noon…what’s your reaction to the tornado siren that just went off?
Was driving around the Coventry and Scott area and could hear it in the car loud and clear. I thought it was my brakes and then remembered the drill. It was circular or pulsing, couldn’t tell which. Did it perhaps rotate from different points around Decatur?
“I heard it. And it was LOUD.” says my better half. Before the new sirens, we could faintly hear Agnes’s siren if we opened the back door. (nellie, that one’s for you, love.)
