Decatur Election Poll
Decatur Metro | October 27, 2009Ah, but not the one you think.
What? You thought I was going to do a straight up “who will you vote for poll?”?
Please.
I can already see all you scarily passionate candidate advocates deleting your cookies as many times as you physically can before the carpal tunnel sets in. It would be worse than Afghanistan.
The trick with completely unscientific online polls is to only ask questions that no one has enough of a vested interest in to stuff the ballot box.
Great idea! I’m glad you’re not polling for who DMers will vote for because I think the results would actually influence the voters. I realize that that’s a political strategy into itself but I’d rather that DMers vote based on what they know of the candidates, their record, the forums this week, website info, etc. not on what other people are doing. I believe we should all resolutely go to the polls, vote for who we think should be elected, even if we think we’re the only one in thousands voting that way, and let the chips fall where they may.
To the responders saying they won’t vote: Why not? I’m truly curious why others don’t vote. The only rationalization I can identify with is “I forgot”.
CSDS: Not all of DM’s readers live in Decatur.
That’s an even better excuse than “I forgot”!
I wonder if DM meant to capture all readers or just poll residents. We need more categories:
– No, because I don’t live in Decatur
– I already voted
– Yes, but please give me a wake up reminder call on November 3
– I’d like to vote but need a ride to the poll
– No, it’s just not polite to vote against those nice candidates
– Yes, if it’s ok with you if I have some kids (dogs) trailing behind me
– No, I like everything in Decatur just the way it is and everyone can just leave if they don’t agree
– Yes or no, I don’t know what any of these positions are or what they do
– Yes, and I’m biking and/or walking and/or taking Pedicab to the poll
– Which polling place is mine and where is it this time?
– Just plain No
‘No, but I plan on manipulating the poll results using a super-computer located in my underground bunker a mile beneath Coventry Rd.’
-I don’t know–will there be beer?
Good point Gibbs. Perhaps the city should frame it as an “Election Day Festival”.
“Hold that thought honey. I think I smell kettle corn down at First Christian! Be right back!”
Darn. I meant to add that and then promptly forgot. Will do so now.
I’m voting for the candidate(s) with the most yard signs.
We must have a pretty active electorate here if 84% of DM readers who are also residents plan to vote. Though I guess that isn’t all that surprising!
