Glenlake Pool Opening Delayed Until June 5th

    Decatur Metro | May 20, 2009

Linda Harris and Dan Magee blitz the blogosphere with this press release…

The Grand Opening of the new Glenlake Bathhouse and Pool, originally scheduled for Friday, May 22 at 5 p.m., has been postponed until June 5, 2009. Completion of the new bathhouse has been delayed by the numerous rain days which occurred this spring.

Both McKoy Pool and Ebster Pool will open on Saturday, May 23, 2009 as scheduled.

The Glenlake Pool and Bathhouse Grand Opening celebration will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. and will include games, prizes, refreshments, and free admission. Details will be updated and confirmed on the City of Decatur website at www.decaturga.com.

THat’s great, and I’m excited to see it.

I wonder if there is really no way to open at least a one-lane path from the back the park. THere’s a whole neighborhood back there that would like to walk to the pool and to school for the days that remain. Maybe this is a good opportunity to try the City’s web-based Q&A system.

Judd, I checked with Hugh Saxon on the details of the project. Unfortunately, it is not feasible or safe to open a path during construction. The existing path that went from Glendale Avenue to the park has been demolished and will be replaced. There is heavy equipment at work in the area and there will be a large underground drainaige system installed in the driveway area beside the tennis courts. I know it is very inconvenient for the Glendale neighborhood during the construction and we appreciate your patience. We want to keep you safe and get the project completed as soon as possible.

Understood. Thanks for checking, Linda. (I did submit the question at the City site — and the Q&A system is very easy to use, as advertised.)
