Local Food…Blog
Decatur Metro | February 5, 2009 | 4:09 pmThe AJC’s John Kessler gives a little front page love to three Atlanta food bloggers in today’s Food & Drink section. Imagine my surprise when I read that one of them is a “Decaturite”!
Tami Hardeman’s “Running With Tweezers” food blog is a revelation. Her writing style is smooth and conversational and each recipe sounds easy and delicious. Oh and the photos…
Not that I should be all that surprised by this. Hardeman is a blog veteran. She’s been writing Running With Tweezers since October 2005 and has since also started writing for Atlanta Cuisine. She’s the real deal.
And she’s from the neighborhood! So click on over and blog local!

Reading her blog, it’s also good to hear some of the positive things she has to say about one of our local treasures here in the Decatur area …. Your Dekalb Farmers Market. Particularly after reading much of the negative talk here on this blog about it, it is good to find someone who is obviously knowledgable about food speaking of it in a positive way.
I’ve had the pleasure of dining with the authors of both Running With Tweezers and Blissful Glutton (and, in the case of the latter, casing a Mexican grocery) and I can say with authority that they know their stuff. Follow their lead and you will dine well in this town.
I don’t know if this is the place to mention this, but the family and I had dinner at Zucca a week ago and had a horrible, horrible meal. We got a large cheese pizza and I couldn’t eat it. It was like Chuck-E-Cheese, without the automatronic robots and loud music. My wife felt the same way. I really hope we are the exception rather than the rule…Can anyone else report their experiences? Lastly, the sauce was the WORST part…How did they win any prizes for this??
Aaron, there’s a dedicated Zucca post for reviews like this. If you repost your comment over there, I’ll delete this one.
Go to the search function in the sidebar, search “Zucca” and it should come up first.
thanks for the nice shout out! nice words about my blog are nice to see
yes…i have been a Decaturite for many years and blissfully so. one of the top 3 restaurants in Atlanta is located in Decatur – Cakes and Ale. we have great shops and people and independently owned businesses. who would want to live anywhere else?
Re: YDFM – it’s about 3 minutes from my house. the produce section is inspiring, to say the least. the cheese section is getting better and better – and less and less of it seems to have that stale, damp smell. the bulk grains and spices are the best deal in town. there are things i won’t buy there because of the dampness that seems to follow it back to my house, such as bread and their fresh pasta. however, it’s a wonderful resource for our town and particularly Decatur.
Lots of press for Tami lately! It also looks like she made CL’s Lust List…
