    They're Filming at the Courthouse!

    Decatur Metro | September 15, 2008 | 8:43 am

Who is they?  We don’t know! (UPDATE: We do now!  Check the comments!)

Cub reporter Scott sends in a dramatic pic taken this morning in front of the DeKalb County Courthouse.  (uh…the old one, not the new one)  Unfortunately, no one would tell him what was going on, though he’s betting on a generic legal movie-type moment where a young boy exits yelling “Innocent!  Innocent on all counts!”.

    Anybody clued in?

Oh, and is it just me (and my Jurrasic Park upbringing) or does this pic also kinda look like two dinosaurs emerging from the trees set to reek havoc on the building?

Given the season, it could very well be political in nature. Jim Martin did some shots there before the primary.

You’re not found innocent. You are either guilty or not guilty.

      :)

I remember walking to MARTA early this year and saw them filming a GA Lottery commercial right on the square near Squash Blossom. Giant mound of cash with a “little person” jumping out of it. Fun.

Hey Chiatt, go to Municipal Court sometime and you’ll learn about another plea “Guilty, But”. (But, I left my license in my other pants, OR I was driving my mother’s car, OR I couldn’t see around that tree, OR ……..).

According to the film permit, it is a TV pilot with the project title of Drop Dead Diva.

Here’s a rather, let’s say, interesting rundown of what this new show is all about…

“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation creator Josh Berman has just sold his latest project to Fox television. According to Variety, the show, entitled Drop Dead Diva, will be a one-hour legal drama.

The series, which will have some comedic overtones, follows the adventures of a beautiful model-in-training who dies only to come back in the form of an overweight, fugly female attorney.”

Sounds very classy. Guess that dying and coming back to life thing is pretty hot right now.

Though there’s a little confusion online, it sounds like this pilot is being made for Lifetime TV.

Linda, you’re not in the cast? Sounds like one for the Chillettes.

Man, I just heard that same thing from the rumor mill and was hoping to post it before anyone … you guys are too quick for me …

I know they were filming for some kind of Lifetime show in Inman Park (near Austin Ave. and Sinclair Ave.) last Thursday. I imagine this is for the same show.

Look! The AJC reads Decatur Metro just like you! And then reports on it with no credit given! Hooray for not giving credit!! Maybe I should just take Scott’s name out of post and just say “here’s a pic of camera crews”, letting everyone infer that I discovered the story all by myself! Then everyone will think I’m the authority!

Geez…And they say that bloggers have no journalistic integrity. Is this what the AJC had in mind when they recently promised better local coverage?

(Obviously I can’t be sure about this, but after 4 or 5 similar incidents it gets harder to argue that its just coincidence)

      Steve,
I think you have me confused with my colleague Cheryl Burnette. I was never one of the Chillettes although they rock!

Apologies, Linda, you should have been ! Guess you’re not the Drop Dead diva, either.

When I saw the yellow DDD sign I was afraid someone was filming a porn flick.

      Proof that I sometimes can’t put 2 and 2 together…

My wife reminds me that we also heard about filming going at a house on Nelson Ferry this past weekend, which made it near impossible to park on the street. Could also be related to the “triple D” filming.

They were also filming for this show on Highland Ave by the Carter Center last week.

it might be the next installation of the Van WIlder movies they keep on making. I saw the crew walking around yesterday afternoon.
