But that’s not all!
Wordsmiths has a whole day of events planned, including an Art Show, music by Wayne Fishell, and a book signing by Peacock to close out a great first year.

15th is our last day of in-store author events here at Wordsmiths Books, and we’re ringing out the old year and in the new with a bang:
At 2 P.M. in our Art Gallery, we’ll be presenting the SevenSevenOh!Seven Art Show and reception, for artist Ellen Phillips, whose artwork is currently displayed in the Wordsmiths reading room. Several other artists’ works will also be displayed in a show called SevenSevenOh!Seven: Solstice since there will be seven artist seven days before the ’07 Solstice. In addition to Phillips, who will be displaying sculpture and pastels, the other artists include Betsy Welch (ceramics), Laura Martin (art quilts), Lorrie Dallek (photography), Michele Joseph (jewelry), Patsy Cannon (watercolor and acryllic), and Susan Ryles (sculpture).
At that same time (2 P.M.) on our Wordsmiths Books stage, we’re very, very excited to present the Atlanta Cooks At Home Holiday “Fireside Chat”. Join Wordsmiths Books for an informal afternoon “fireside chat” with some of Atlanta’s most noted and notable chefs: Virginia Willis (Kitchen Director for Martha Stewart Living Television) and Scott Peacock (Decatur’s Watershed restaurant), in conversation with Culinary Works founder Gena Berry, all in celebration of the beloved Atlanta Cooks at Home cookbook. Peacock will also be signing his book, The Gift of Southern Cooking. Free light snacks will be provided by the chefs, so come unwind and spend a relaxed afternoon discussing food and having fun. As Remember: these books make great holiday gifts, so we’re offering the ability for our customers to take care of some of that last-minute holiday shopping with our our special Christmas gift : a package-set of both books together for only $50 — that’s a savings of $14.90! These special deal can be picked up both the day of the event, or pre-ordered online at wordsmithsbooks.com for free shipping.
Then, to close out the evening, at 7:30 PM the Wayne Fishell experiment will perform (again: free, all ages). Wayne Fishell and “Big Peaches”’ sound is fun, upbeat folk-pop with a wry, tongue-in-cheek edge befitting their album’s title, “Optimistically Hopeless”.
And thus, a fittingly fun and grand end to a huge, exhausting, wonderful year here at Wordsmiths Books. But that’s just the beginning…
