    UPDATED: Decatur Police Closing Scott Boulevard Tomorrow To Reconstruct Deadly Accident

    UPDATE: Lt. Ross clarifies that “accident reconstruction is “laser mapping of roadway evidence”.

    Decatur Police Lt. Jennifer Ross sends along this alert…

    On Tuesday, May 12, 2015, Scott Boulevard will be closed between Clairemont Avenue and Coventry Road from 9:30 am to approximately 11:30 am for an accident reconstruction.

    Decatur Police Arrest Driver Involved in Fatal Scott Boulevard Crash

    From Decatur Police…

    On April 30, 2015, Decatur Police obtained arrest warrants for first degree vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle and reckless driving for 19-year-old [suspect] of Tucker for the fatality accident that occurred on April 25, 2015 on Scott Boulevard at Ridley Circle involving Leah O’Brien and her 8-year-old daughter.  [The suspect] was taken into custody at his residence without incident.

    Driver Killed In Scott Boulevard Crash Identified

    Decatur Police sent out an update early this afternoon…

    The victim in yesterday’s fatality accident on Scott Boulevard at Ridley Circle has been identified as 33-year-old Leah O’Brien of DeKalb County.  Her 8-year-old daughter was a passenger in her vehicle and is in critical but stable condition at an area hospital.

    The occupants of the second vehicle, a 19-year-old male and 18-year-old female who were on their way to the Lakeside High School prom, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation is ongoing.

    UPDATED: Driver Killed in Scott Boulevard Traffic Accident

    UPDATE III: Scott Blvd reopened around 11pm last night, according to DPD.

    UPDATE II: Decatur PD also confirms that as of 10:15pm, Scott Boulevard is still closed.

    UPDATE: More detail from  Decatur Police…

    On Saturday, April 25, 2015 at approximately 6:00 pm, Decatur Police responded to a vehicle accident involving two vehicles on Scott Boulevard at Ridley Circle.  Preliminary investigation revealed one driver was attempting to turn off of Ridley Circle, eastbound onto Scott Boulevard.  One driver was traveling westbound on Scott Boulevard.  The driver of one of the vehicles, an adult, was killed and their passenger was taken to an area hospital and is in critical condition.  The driver and a passenger in the other vehicle were also taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation is ongoing.  The identity of those involved are not being released at this time pending notification of family.

    Sad news coming out of a two-car accident that occurred on Scott Boulevard in Decatur this afternoon.

    Decatur Police provided this detail in response to our inquiry, after we received word from a Decatur resident that there were fatalities reported…

    At approximately 6:00 pm, Decatur Police responded to a car accident involving two vehicles on Scott Boulevard at Ridley Circle. There is one confirmed fatality of an adult. Three other occupants are being treated at area hospitals.

    The accident is currently under investigation.  The identity of those involved are not being released at this time pending notification of family.
