Eric writes in with some info on the new Tapas restaurant, Rezagarse Tapas, opening in the old Carpe Diem space in the Ice House Lofts (MAP)…

Rezagarse Tapas had it’s Family and Friends Night on Tuesday, August 18, then proceeded with a soft opening on Thursday, August 20 and continue to be open each day except Monday.

The official Grand Opening will be this Friday, August 28.

The website, with pictures, description of the concept, menu and contact information, and Facebook page is up and operational at www.Rezagarse.com and Facebook.com/Rezagarse respectively.

A short overview of the restaurant concept is as follows:

“Rezagarse is a place to relax, linger and enjoy the culinary delights of Spain. A fusion of the traditional Spanish tapas restaurants, serving homemade creations, along with selected local ingredients from Georgia. Rezagarse will be THE meeting place in the neighborhood with an authentic, flexible and seasonal menu created by Executive Chef, Meliah Moore. With a lively spirituous bar, charcuterie bar, inviting atmosphere and cutting edge culinary design, Rezagarse makes for an unforgettable dining experience.

Carpe Diem closed over two years ago.  And since then the restaurant space on the first floor has sat empty.

But back in April, residents reported that the windows of the old Carpe Diem space in the Ice House Lofts were papered over and a message was written on the paper.

“Chic new restaurant coming soon!  Check out AbleQualityRemodeling.com for more info!” But there was no new info on the website and inquiries to Able Quality Remodeling were not returned.

But it looks like we finally have an answer to the question – what is finally taking the place of Carpe Diem on Sycamore Place?

On the agenda for Monday’s city commission meeting, the commission will take up approving a liquor license for Rezagarse Tapas, which registered under the address: 105 Sycamore Place, Suite 1.

There’s very little info about Rezagarse Tapas online, aside from a post looking for an Executive Chef which describes the restaurant as “a new Spanish Tapas concept in Downtown Decatur”.

But hey, at least it’s a start!
