Rezagarse Tapas Now Open in Old Carpe Diem Space; Menu Online
Decatur Metro | August 26, 2015 | 10:39 amEric writes in with some info on the new Tapas restaurant, Rezagarse Tapas, opening in the old Carpe Diem space in the Ice House Lofts (MAP)…
Rezagarse Tapas had it’s Family and Friends Night on Tuesday, August 18, then proceeded with a soft opening on Thursday, August 20 and continue to be open each day except Monday.
The official Grand Opening will be this Friday, August 28.
The website, with pictures, description of the concept, menu and contact information, and Facebook page is up and operational at www.Rezagarse.com and Facebook.com/Rezagarse respectively.
A short overview of the restaurant concept is as follows:
“Rezagarse is a place to relax, linger and enjoy the culinary delights of Spain. A fusion of the traditional Spanish tapas restaurants, serving homemade creations, along with selected local ingredients from Georgia. Rezagarse will be THE meeting place in the neighborhood with an authentic, flexible and seasonal menu created by Executive Chef, Meliah Moore. With a lively spirituous bar, charcuterie bar, inviting atmosphere and cutting edge culinary design, Rezagarse makes for an unforgettable dining experience.

Doesn’t look like the Spanish food I remember eating when I lived there. On the other hand I was super poor and it was like 20 years ago. The word fusion forgives all sins though, right?
God I’m being negative. I’ll go here and try it with an open mind. Promise.
patio seating?
The interior shots on the website suggest that they kept the deck seating from the former space. I hope they keep the patio as well; it was a charming patio.
Ate their last week and really enjoyed it. Chatted a bit with the owner who indicated he was taking care not to repeat the usual Decatur sin of hyping a restaurant opening to death, then being totally unprepared to properly serve the crazy crowd that shows up. They seemed to be taking the soft opening as an opportunity to get their act together.
There were probably five tables seated while we were there and everyone appeared happy with their food and service. Ours was delicious and prices, especially in relation to the size of the tapas plates, were quite reasonable.
Thanks, Scott. Your last sentence answered my unspoken question about price/serving size.
Looks like we’ll need to try it out.
How on earth do you pronounce this? And I’m usually pretty good at figuring out that sort of thing. Ahh… checked the web site, so in case you were also wondering: (Rez-uh-gar-say)
Ray sa gar se. Z in Spanish is pronounced like an S.
Accent on the gar. To relax oneself. Mas o menos.
“Ray’s Cigars. May I help you?”
It actually means to lag behind, as in “He is lagging behind in school”. It doesn’t really have positive connotations, at least in Latin American Spanish.
