Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 and ending 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, Katie Kerr Dr. will be closed to through traffic between E. College Ave. and S. Columbia Dr. for the installation of a gas main.

Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area.

A resident in the Katie Kerr neighborhood – just east of the Decatur city limits (map) – sent in an alert from a friend noting that a house in the neighborhood had recently been robbed by armed gunman.  She described the burglars as “pros”, as they had a lookout man and a female driver waiting on-hand in a “older model gold Saturn” acting as a getaway car.  According to the report, “the same people hit a house in other [nearby] cul-de-sac last week.”

I don’t have an easy contact at DeKalb PD, so this report is unsubstantiated, but I have no reason to believe its untrue and thought that all area residents should be on the look out for this particular vehicle cruising through their neighborhood.
