Mayor Bill Floyd Again Finds Himself Among the “Most Influential Georgians”

    Decatur Metro | January 18, 2012

Decatur’s mayor Bill Floyd again finds himself among the likes of Arthur Blank, the founder of Sweetwater Brewing and Governor Nathan Deal, as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Georgians, as determined by the folks at Georgia Trend magazine. Here’s his blurb his year…

On the outskirts of Atlanta, Decatur has made a name for itself, and Bill Floyd has had a lot to do with it. Mayor since 1998, he has helped transform the area into a welcoming, vibrant downtown full of hip restaurants and stores. The city is committed to sustainability, and for its efforts, the Atlanta Regional Commission has named Decatur a Gold level certified community.

Decatur-based attorney Robert Wilson of the firm Wilson, Morton and Downs also made the list…

The former three-term DeKalb County district attorney works in the areas of general litigation, education and municipal law. He’s also worked with every Georgia governor since Joe Frank Harris, including four special investigations. The most recent one, undertaken with former Attorney General Mike Bowers, uncovered widespread cheating on standardized tests in the Atlanta and Dougherty County school systems.

Mayor Floyd also made the list in 2009.  My how things change!  Did Floyd make the list in 2010?  What does this look like, a newspaper?!

    No, no he did not.

Mayor Floyd One of 100 Most Influential Georgians

    Decatur Metro | January 8, 2009

…according to Georgia Trend magazine.  Here’s the blurb.

Floyd, who operates his own blogsite (www.billfloyddecatur.com), has been a leader on Decatur’s political scene since being elected to the city commission in 1991. Since 1998 he’s served as mayor of one of Georgia’s most progressive small cities. Most recently, Decatur has been considering annexation (increasing from 4 to 5 square miles) and developing a local, organic, urban farming program.

Not really a much of a bio, but when you have to write up 100 blurbs I guess you have to limit your facts to things easily found online.
