December is upon us, so you know what that means – Decatur Tree Lighting this Thursday!!  The Little Shop website has this blurb…

Christamas Tree Lighting
Thursday, December 3rd | 7 p.m.
It’s one of the highlights of our year!

Come downtown and gather with your neighbors on East Court Square. There will be hot chocolate and song and a visit from The Big Man himself. Ho!

Also of note, Decatur’s Menorah Lighting on the Square is set for next Thursday December 10th, according to the latest Focus.

We hope to see you on East Court Square Thursday at 7 p.m. for one of Decatur’s most wonderful annual traditions. It might be 60 degrees tomorrow night, but it’s still time for the Decatur Tree Lighting! Little Shop of Stories and other local businesses are kicking off the holiday season with carols from the 4/5 Academy, snacks, hot chocolate, snow, and a visit from Santa!!! This year, there will at least one exciting change — a customized light installation to replace the live tree. This tree-shaped installation will still sit on the roof above Little Shop of Stories and will be a more sustainable, workable option for future years.

Decatur Christmas Tree Lighting

Thursday, December 5th | 7pm (singing starts about 6:30)

It’s time for the 5th annual Decatur Christmas Tree! Thanks to all the local businesses who help make this possible each year! The tree will be up all holiday season, but the lighting is a fun event for the whole community. We block off East Court Square and have hot chocolate, treats, carols, snow, and a visit from Santa!
