A familiar sight in Downtown Decatur – the sidewalks along West Ponce are again cluttered with filming equipment this morning.
The city tells us that the CBS’s reboot of “MacGyver” is filming inside No. 246 today.
The series, which launched in 2016, stars Lucas Till in the title role. They are currently filming their 3rd season.
We’ve received a couple of cool pics from filming locations around Decatur and Avondale in the last day or so. First, Gina sent in this photo yesterday of Vampire Diaries filming taking place on Dartmouth Avenue in Avondale Estates.
Darren sends along this photo this afternoon of the set being built for “Rings” near the creek at the east side of the Decatur Cemetery. The Decatur Minute reported last week that Rings would also be filming on Fayetteville Road from March 22-28th.
The city’s Katie Abel reports on The Decatur Minute blog that the MTV series “Finding Carter” will be filming at Wahoo! on West College Avenue Monday.
The city blog states “Police will be present handling traffic control as one parking lane on College will be closed as will a small portion of East Lake Drive.”
For those who don’t watch much MTV, Wikipedia states that “Finding Carter” is
…an American teen drama television series which premiered on MTV on July 8, 2014.[1] The series was created by Emily Silver, and stars Kathryn Prescott as Carter, a young teenage girl whose life is turned upside-down when it is discovered that the woman she thought was her mother had abducted her when she was a child.
The series second season premieres at the end of March.
Filming at Wahoo! should be complete by 3pm, according to Ms. Abel.

Billy Bob Thornton was super nice posing with Decatur Police and Station 2 Fire earlier this morning. Filming continues this afternoon at “Donavan’s Discounts” store and the carnival “see this” set in the “Big H” lot.
Patch reports that Kevin Bacon was also spotted at the Solarium this morning.

Patch reports that the Jennifer Garner movie “Odd Life of Timothy Green” will be filming at the vacant Forrest Hills Elementary School at the end of Forrest Boulevard, near Avondale Park, today through next Monday.
According to Patch, Garner sightings were reported this past weekend at the Botanical Gardens and at South City Kitchen, where she was seen with hubby Ben Affleck.
I have gotten a couple reports in the last 24 hours wondering about the large production crew that’s set up shop at Decatur High School parking lot.
Last week, the city’s Cheryl Burnette reported that Mean Girls 2 would be filming in the city all this week, so I have to assume that’s what is current in production at the high school. If so, that should mean that DHS will have a starring role in the film.
But hopefully Cheryl can confirm/deny!

There have been THREE reports of filming around the city and its surrounding environs in recent days. First there was a report on Twitter recently about filming in Oakhurst this past week. Then this morning the city’s Cheryl Burnette reports filming in the Economy parking lot at Arcadia and College. And finally, Rob writes in about some pretty intense filming going on in Candler Park…
Have you heard any info on what is being filmed at the corner of Oakdale and Iverson (block north of Candler Pk Marta station)? For the past few days, dozens of trucks have been parked outside the house on the corner lot. And today, as I walked by on my way to the station, a cherry picker was hoisting lighting equipment. And this afternoon on my walk back through, the back yard was a-buzz with what appeared to be actors taking their marks. There are no signs anywhere about it though.
