UK’s escalating migrant issue is seen as advantageous for Nigel Farage, as political analyst Benedict Spence points out, especially with the continued increase in small boat arrivals under the Labour government.

In a conversation on GB News, Spence humorously speculated about the size of Farage’s “cigar collection” in light of these developments.
Recently, the UK has witnessed over 10,000 migrants illegally crossing the Channel in small boats in the year 2025 alone.
This alarming milestone was reached early Monday morning as the Border Force ship Hurricane docked at Dover with 71 migrants on board.
Benedict Spence remarked that these events would likely be very pleasing to Nigel Farage.

GB News’ initial analysis indicates that about 10,150 migrants have made the journey via small boats since the year’s start.
This year, the 10,000 figure was reached nearly a month earlier than in 2024, which was not recorded until May 24.

“If deportation numbers increase, but not those arriving by small boats, people will definitely question what’s truly happening,” Spence stated.
He also discussed the potential for alliances with Reform UK, doubting any benefit for them, especially given Farage’s history with the Brexit Party and UKIP. Spence suggested that Farage currently does not need such an alliance, having not put in as much effort as one might expect.
Nigel Farage currently leads Reform UK.
“The insurgent party needed to surpass the Conservatives, which it did until they changed their leader,” Spence noted, referring to Farage’s strategic movements.
“Kemi Badenoch’s consideration of a potential pact reveals the current vulnerability of her party,” he added.
Recent data indicates that the number of crossings this year has surpassed last year’s by over 40 percent, highlighting a significant failure in the Prime Minister’s commitment to ‘crush the criminal gangs’ involved in human smuggling.
Five small boats crossed the Channel this past Monday under almost perfect conditions, leading to an expected increase in attempts over the coming days due to favorable weather.
