“Chromakopia Tour” : Tyler, the Creator embrase Paris dans un show magistral

Returning to Paris after nearly three years, the Californian dazzled the Accor Arena with an incredible performance during the “Chromakopia Tour.” He is set for a repeat performance tonight at Bercy.

For over a decade, Tyler, the Creator has consistently amazed us. Last night was no exception for one of the most significant artists of his generation. The venue was already buzzing with excitement from the energetic performances of Paris Texas and a laid-back Lil Yachty, who has moved away from mumble rap to embrace progressive rock. Amid this charged atmosphere, the Californian made his entrance. The crowd repeatedly chanted the almost mystical Chromakopia. At precisely 9:30 PM, lights on a massive green container, proudly displaying Chromakopia—the title of his latest album and tour—lit up. The audience erupted as Tyler appeared, dressed in a green military outfit, a wig, and his iconic mask, representing his latest persona.

The concert kicked off within this container-themed stage, where Tyler delivered the opening tracks of Chromakopia: from the solemn intro St. Chroma to the intense Noid, which revisits psychedelic and Zambian rock, and the tender ballad Darling, I. The Accor Arena was virtually swaying as Sticky played from a bridge above the crowd. Tyler’s skill lies in his ability to transition from raw energy to sweet grooves seamlessly, a delicate balance he has honed since his disruptive album Cherry Bomb.

A Familiar Cottage

After this initial burst of songs from the suspended bridge, the rapper moved to a small house set up in the middle of the pit—a cozy space where he changed into outfits from his own brand, Golf Le Fleur. From this “cottage” living room, surrounded by personal items including a Grammy, Tyler revisited his discography and performed some of his most iconic tracks. From the early Yonkers to the powerful Earfquake, he spun records on a turntable, with album covers projected on giant screens—Wolf, Igor, and Call Me If You Get Lost—announcing each era he was revisiting, to the delight of the Bercy crowd.

Known for his sharp wit, Tyler didn’t shy away from teasing his audience, coaxing them into hurling playful insults back at him, maintaining his unique offbeat humor. He then walked back to the bridge to return to his containers, playing the sunny hit Wusyaname along the way, much to the audience’s pleasure.

An Emotional Finale

About an hour into the show, the concert shifted into its final phase. Tyler delivered an intense performance of Like Him, a poignant ballad about resembling the father he never knew. It was a moment of suspended reality. The concert couldn’t conclude without See You Again, sung in unison by an ecstatic crowd, followed by a spectacular finale on I Hope You Find Your Way Home: a pyrotechnic curtain, columns of fire, and a barrage of fireworks, this time without the mask.

Mirroring the introspective nature of Chromakopia, the concert was both a personal manifesto and an explosive performance, an ode to self-acceptance and a declaration of boundless ambition. The erstwhile wild child of Odd Future has matured, continually pushing boundaries, and has now reached a new level. During the intro St. Chroma, he states: “P said I could do it too, and boy did I believe him,” referencing his mentor Pharrell, whose legacy he is more than ever living up to. Last night, this prophecy seemed to manifest.
