Best Patio Dining in Decatur/Atlanta For Spring
Decatur Metro | March 30, 2016 | 11:07 amI stole this post idea from somewhere, though I’m not entirely sure where it came from.
What are your favorite restaurant patios in the Atlanta/Decatur area for Spring dining?

In no particular order:
The Nook
No. 246
Victory
Raging Burrito & Taco
Livingston (Georgian Terrace)
Leon’s
My Back Yard
Victory is too noisy for any conversation, inside and out. Raging takes all!
Mellow Mushroom on Ponce. Spring 2017. 😉
Love that patio…and it’s so not crowded
The Rager! (Raging Burrito)
The Marlay
Universal Joint
Steinbeck’s
My Parents’ Basement
Steinbeck’s!
But don’t tell anyone.
I saw somebody smoking at a Steinbeck’s table a couple of days ago. I believe that’s against the City ordinance.
It is. Since restaurants don’t want to be the bad guy and tell patrons not to smoke, they just leave it up to other customers to complain to offenders. The city was supposed to put up signage about this ordinance after the streetscape project was complete, but it hasn’t happened yet.

The Marlay
For Decatur I’ll say Marlay and Leon’s.
From the looks of the build-out, the open-air second floor of Grindhouse will be making the list in the near future.
Midway in EAV
Great question. I’ll tell you what should be the best. Parkers on Ponce. Tout le Decatur walks by every evening. But there is something way comfy at Raging Burrito. What about the Korean Taco place (I don’t know their actual name) with its handful of tables on Clairemont just north on Ponce? Now that the sidewalk is no longer torn up. I like the outdoor space behind the cool grill-work at Java Monkey, and always regret when I have to order to-go. But this time of year, is there a bad outdoor spot?
The awning says “K BBQ Taco”. Really good food.
Totally with you that Parker’s has the best patio…if only their food were on par. (Not a hater, just a wisher–as in, wish their food was better, because I’d LIVE on that patio in warm weather if it were!)
Agreed and will add that their great patio is somewhat wasted by them not being open until 5pm and then closing at 10.
Carpe Diem …if we ever get our time machine.
Why why WHY has no one scooped up that place to take advantage of that outdoor space?! We went to Rezegarse (sp?) once and would have returned if they had remained open for more than a minute!
No doubt. And it seems to me even more valuable now that they’ve built the John Weiland townhomes, which will likely block the brutal late afternoon summer sun around two hours earlier for evening dining.
Leon’s. Has cooling fans. The end.
Also, that picture of Eddie’s Attic as the lead for this article makes me sad. If you love views of the roof next door, Eddie’s patio is for you.
Speaking of that sad picture of Eddie’s rooftop bar, why don’t we have a rooftop bar that overlooks the square? I guess it’s too expensive to change the old buildings, but it’d be a nice view.
While it isn’t on a roof, Square Pub’s top floor offers cool views of the square. They have big windows that they often open up in nice weather.
Leon’s and Wahoo are my favorites in Decatur. Elsewhere, I like Lure and Einsteins in Midtown, Haven in Brookhaven, JCT Kitchen and Bar on the Westside, and the “lanai” at Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall on the Beltline.
Also want to give an honorable mention to Napoleon’s in Oak Grove. They really did their best with a less-than-great patio location in the middle of a parking lot.
Until tomorrow night when it closes for good, the patio at H. Harper Station is hard to beat. Otherwise, any patio that isn’t crawling with damned children is fine by me.
Good thing you weren’t at 246 tonight.
