AT&T, your days are numbered chez me.
Now that AT&T is enforcing data caps, google fiber is even more appealing.
Comcast, your days are numbered chez me.
Comcast, your days are….wait, what about my Comcast email address that I’ve had for a hundred million years or so? That elderly relatives memorized before they stopped being able to learn anything new? Will Comcast let me forward from my old email address?
AHID, I correspond with someone with an AOL extension, several with an earthlink.net address, and I myseld have an old bellsouth.net email.
You,therefore, should be fine. Don’t let those donkeys bully you into keeping them for their email. There’s certainly nothing else good they offer without breaking the bank.
I pay $5 a month to keep my old email address. Silly to pay that but I have had it forever and it’s one of those things that simplifies life for me so.
Start transitioning now.
Create a new Gmail address (you’re gonna get one anyway) and put that email address in the signature as a reminder for everyone to start changing your address. Then, go ahead an start forwarding your Comcast email to it. Every week or so, review those emails and respond with your new address.
A little bit here and there will make the transition smooth. And you won’t be rushed to do it when you drop Comcast. Or, even if you don’t drop them, you should never have to move again or feel trapped by the email address lock-in.
Even if you pay to keep your old e-mail address — as I do mine right now — it still will likely be less than whatever Comcast or AT&T are making you pay. I can’t wait to switch so I can call Comcast and say Buh-Bye to your insane costs and idiotic data caps.
If you have a bellsouth.net or att.net email address, you can keep it as long as you were in good standing with them when you left.
excuse me, i’ll be in my bunk
Pharrel’s song “Happy!”, cause I’ll be able to swing the low end plan with Roku.
So any rumors as to timing? I already signed up for emails, but curious if anyone has gotten a rough timeline?
I am ready for it to be live!! I checked my home use on ATT 45 Mbps (called Highspeed Internet Power) today and surprisingly only maxed out at about 170 GB total in a month the last 8 mos — well under my cap of 600 GB.
I work from home a bunch, daughter on ipad streaming for about an hour a day, wife and I streaming Netflix maybe 4-6 hrs a week if that.
Cant wait to be further liberated!
So I guess no option for TV + fiber 100? That’s probably what I would have opted for to keep costs a little lower.
I seem to recall there was talk a while back about a free bare-bones option. I guess that is no longer the case?
After a recent service call with DirecTV, they proactively knocked a pretty decent amount off my monthly bill. The pending competition is already having an effect.
Will have to call my other providers now to find out how scared they are.
