Trees Falling In and Around Decatur After Days and Days of Rain

    Decatur Metro | November 9, 2015 | 8:23 am

Not all that surprisingly, the recent onslaught of rain is taking its toll on the city’s tree population. Chris sent in the photo above of a very large tree that fell just behind the playground at Adair Park.

There is also a substantial vehicle backup on Scott Boulevard this morning due to a tree down at Ponce and Scott, according to reports.

Yeah, but did they have a permit? I bet they didn’t.

We’ve got to be getting to the point where there are no more trees along Ponce left to fall over, right? I feel like it’s been sort of a bi-weekly occurrence where one is down on a weekday morning over the past year or so.

A melancholy day for regular park patrons. That old tree was actually within the confines of the playground area. We now have one less large tree to hide behind during games of hide-and-seek with the kids. One less tree of shade over the swings below. Fortunately it didn’t fall on any of the equipment…or worst. Perhaps someone can repurpose some of the wood (there’s a lot of it) for a few benches and such like they did over at Marlay House.
