East Howard Ave To Close Between N Candler and Church Street During Stormwater Construction

    Decatur Metro | January 20, 2014 | 10:03 am

    From The Decatur Minute…

Reeves is completing installation of the new storm sewer on Church Street south of East Maple and will start construction of the new system on East Howard Avenue.  During this phase, East Howard Avenue will be closed to all traffic between North Candler Street (at the Dairy Queen) and Church Street.

Starting next week, on-street parking will be available on Church Street and traffic will again run in both directions, except for the area closest to the CSX railroad. Download a schematic plan illustrating temporary traffic changes here.

Following completion of the work on East Howard, Reeves will start installing the new storm sewer north from East Maple towards East Trinity Place.

Hmm…not much tree canopy in that picture.

        Pretty snarky – that’s a picture of a street.

Sorry, just trying to make a little joke. Next time I’ll remember to add the smiley.

Hopefully the street footprint is not increasing beyond 10%. I don’t see much canopy beyond the street though :) Maybe there is a small % coverage in the picture beyond Philips Towers? Kinda puts things in perspective.

How long???? (Will E Howard be closed) Is it just me of does this project seem to be taking an awfully long time?

The entire project started in front of the High School 11 months ago and has had its share of unforeseen difficulties. It has at least 2 months to go. My guess is that Howard will be closed 2 or 3 weeks.
