re the car smash and grabs for purses/wallets during a short term parking stop fits the m.o. of some recent car smash and grabs I heard about happening in Atlanta. All of them were also when the owner left valuables in the car for a short period of time while running into a store/gym/daycare dropoff. People are watching, so just don’t leave any valuables in the car, especially in sight. If we all do that, these losers will start leaving our city alone.
“a radar detector [was] taken”
They still make those?
Yes, and thank goodness citizens still have the right to get early warning- especially since some law enforcement agencies still utilize RADAR illegally/improperly to generate revenue for their departments.
It is very difficult to pick out the fast car from a “pack” of cars. A RADAR “beam” is quite wide, especially at any distance.
I can’t get over how many people leave valuables in their cars. My husband works in tech support and occasionally sells a warranty, and people often say “let me run out to the car and get my credit card.” Really?!?
Hey Computer Guy: how is your comment relevant to the discussion about auto break ins?
Let me see if I can help. There was a reference to a radar detector getting stolen. Dawgfan asked, “They still make those?” and Computer Guy responded with basically a “yes” along with his opinion on same. A seemingly natural progression of conversation…
That’s fine, but what does any of that have to do with where precious little Ethan and Olivia will be going to school next year? I don’t care how DM tries to frame the conversation by starting new threads, that is really the ONLY thing anyone in Decatur should be concerned about right now!
J_T – You’re kidding right?
J_T is always serious. and J_T love the kids.
I do love the kids. What I love most about them is that they’re not allowed in Trackside. Ever!
I think J_T is feeling a little left out…
Triplets. Hoping for triplets for J_T.
Their first and middle names will be Jonathan Tory, Jenna Taylor and James Thomas.
Heh. If karma could really make me have kids, I’d be looking at octuplets at a minimum. And I would definitely name them all George.
“A seemingly natural progression of conversation…”
What IS that?.
Am I the only guy to get his panties in a wad about the fact that we are discussing something that exists outside the city of Decatur?
