Mediterranean Grill. Two point five years ago, for my son’s h.s. graduation, I went in a couple weeks ahead for a talk; we decided it would be best for me to order the stuff, then pick it up myself day of party. It all went without a hitch, the food was at least as good as eating there, and we had so many yummy leftovers. These days I might try Lawrence’s first, but I don’t know if they have a catering program.
Community Q did a great job for my 25th wedding anniversary. We got our desserts from Sweet ‘n’ Sinful on Pine Street in AE.
+1 on Community Q. They did the catering for my birthday party/ new garage unveiling last year. One of the owners stuck around to help setup, serve, and have a beer with us.
“A Peach of a Party” does fantastic catering. Ordering is simple, their menu is impressively broad, and they seem to anticipate everything that you just might need. The food is delicious, too.
Have you had their grilled cheese? My favorite catered lunch at work – such fresh salads, soup, and the grilled cheese sandwiches are divine.
Nope, but I’ve seen people go wild over two of their Southern dips — Vidalia onion and hot lump crab.
Sawicki’s
Oakhurst Market.
Have used Taqueria El Vecino on LaVista Road several times for our company functions – very reliable, high quality. Owner is Rob Atterhold.
Tastee Pleasures Catering is delicious, wonderful, and incredibly accommodating.
Burnt Fork BBQ did an amazing job for a large gathering we had. And the FOOD!!
Chick-Fil-A. Who doesn’t love the nugget platter?
Las Brasas. Everyone likes tasty chicken, rice, beans and corn.
For an outdoor special event –
S & Js Woodfired Oven Pizza
They trailer the wood-fired oven to your house and the pizza is delicious.
For work catering (I work up at Perimeter), I’ve always been happy with Corporate Catering. They service most parts of town.
Our Way in AE has a catering menu. We did some of their sides for a reception and they were delicious! We picked them up ahead of time and did the final bake on the casseroles just before serving. It was a big help given that meat with a side of meat was the menu before we thought of Our Way.
Tangentially related question about catering that is done by a company that isn’t already a restaurant: Does the caterer ask a potential client to list all known food allergies and intolerances that the invited guests may have? If so, how far in advance would the caterer need to know how many people may or may not be allergic to chocolate, nuts, soy, dairy, citrus, gluten, wheat, tomatoes, etc so that an appropriate menu can be planned?
I have done a lot of event planning and use actual catering companies. I am not really sure you are going to find anyone who can accommodate 500 different allergies and preferences. I have never had a caterer ask me about allergies. That is an impossible task. Unless you are Bill Gates, there is no way you can financially accommodate 200 people and their various preferences and allergies, real or imagined. Catering prices are based on volume and bulk prices. A few fish or vegetarian or even vegan items are no biggie, but 200 different entrees for 200 people with 200 different issues ain’t happening with the catering companies like Carole Parks, Proof of the Pudding, Jerry Diltz, Affairs, Dennis Deane, etc
I highly recommend http://urbanfoodiecafe.net/. Michele is is great chef, asked about food allergies, children attending, and offered up a kids menu. She has been great to work with, and I look forward to my next opportunity to work with her.
