Decatur Metro | August 16, 2012
From the DeKalb Public Library website…
You can be one of the first to have your own collector series, limited-edition Pete the Cat library card for a $20.00 donation to the DeKalb Library Foundation. Stop by when the Library launches its Pete the Cat Card on Saturday, September 1 in the lobby of the Decatur Library, 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Have your photo taken with Pete the Cat creator James Dean, have him sign your card and show your support for the Library. Even if you can’t attend this special event, you can still get the special card at any DeKalb County Public Library branch beginning September 1. For more information, visit the Library Foundation page or call 404.370.8450, ext. 2238.

Pete rocks the library!
I think I know a good idea when I see it…and this one is brilliant.
Love, love, love Pete! And I love this card! When my daughter was a baby, my step-father built a book case for her – knowing she was going to be a reader – and I had an artistic friend paint various characters from children’s books reading adult literature, for example: Dorothy and Toto reading “Gone with the Wind,” Charlotte from “Charlotte’s Web” reading “Lord of the Flies,” and Tweety bird reading “To Kill a Mockingbird.” She has totally outgrown children’s books now, but I can’t make myself part with the book case.
PS: The title of the book Humpty Dumpty is reading has faded away and I can’t remember what it was. If anyone has any ideas what we could have possibly given him to read, please share! It’s driven me crazy for the past several years. Thanks!
All the King’s Men?
Keep the bookcase forever. (And post a picture for us to see.)
Green eggs and ham?
Depending how you perceive Humpty’s mindset, here are some of his favorite books:
Snarky liberal: “After the Fall: Saving Capitalism from Wall Street and Washington”;
Punny: “Great Eggspectations”;
Philosophical: “The Fall” by Albert Camus;
traditional: “Mother Goose”
S, I think that may be it! But, Russ, “Great Eggspectations” hits my punny bone!
I will name him Pete, and I will hug him, and pet him, and squeeze him!
Pete is #1!
Pete is #2!
Pete is #3!
All hail Pete!
