Really, did you get your New Yorker on time? I still haven’t gotten this issue from last week. And are you served by the Decatur post office?

Notice that “New Yorker” is from 2009! So I’d say, yes – it WAS delivered by the Decatur post office!

Yes, I just noticed that! It’s just one of those silly issues. I should have much better things to do, I know, I know . . . but it did spur me on to look at the New Yorker website and realize I can read it online anyway. So, never mind!

I’d say the post office has a lot bigger problems than we thought if someone just got *this* issue 😉

I haven’t gotten the Oct 31 issue yet, and I think it should have arrived by now, shouldn’t it? (Just began receiving a give subscription at beginning of October, and haven’t kept track of which day it’s supposed to be delivered.)

Setting aside the issue of best or worst, I’ll say that the Avondale Estates trick or treating scene has to be seen to be believed. The crowds are unreal.

The worst was definitely our street. All the complaining about non-locals invading the neighborhood and uncostumed kids pilfering multiple treats had me so worried that I made sure we were stocked with 4 Sam’s boxes of full-sized candy bars for the kids and 2 six-packs for me and Mrs. JT to steel ourselves for the avalanche. We got 4 groups all night, 2 of them neighbors’ kids with their friends, one non-local but precious and polite little girl and a teenage couple with no costumes. We wouldn’t even have had to open the second of the four boxes if I didn’t hit the stash over the weekend but, since we did, the Chinese delivery guy also went home with a few Kit Kats. Next year I’m locking the door and going to Trackside!

Oh J_T – be careful. We saw some of your neighbors out walking on our street and overheard them talking about your street and the lack of trick or treaters…our plan is to head straight to over there next year for all the good stuff.

Traffic was a little light for us as well – seemed like no where near as many kids as last year. Guess they all went over to Avondale.
