Are you the one who yelled those exact words at me from a passing taxi in Midtown a couple weeks back?

What is the significance of this photo of unidentified people in another state?

      I agree. I don’t get it.

It was a sighting of Andres Duany, who’s discussed on DM from time to time.

Is he the guy who’s going to fix all the problems?

Madison is awsome! Wished I lived up there…hard to beat a midwest town. Madison, Traverse City, GR, Evanston…the whole area! Nothing like those towns in the south really. Maybe it has something to do with the lakes and, obviously, when the area’s developed.

Looks like they are on Manona Terrace maybe?…a Frank Loyd wright design that was never built till the 90′s sometime…cool spot.

Duany…not sure how I feel about him…Think he did Vickery, which is somewhat poorly done I think…but probably due to the county it was done it…

county it was done “in”…not “it”….

How very esoteric. For the majority of us who wouldn’t have recognized this person without Scott’s post above (thank you, BTW), is this a harbinger of things to come?

LOL! No (but those would be bad enough)– I meant esoterica that are so self-referential that even DM insiders aren’t gonna “get” the posts without an explanation (or worse, esoterica that remain unexplained, leaving us lesser mortals in the dark forever & ever & ever)…

I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy!

Aww…come on! I gave you the tag! There’s lots of Duany posts behind that!

For pshaw, sir! Who hath the time (or the eyesight) to note your little “tags”??? *Pulling tongue out of cheek*

So it’s a photo of a famous urban theorist. Is Duany also some sort of outlaw whom the photojournalist must chase to Madison for a “sighting” and a snap, from behind an Izod-wearing human shield? Is Duany the Radko Mladic of urban planning? Or maybe the Reese Witherspoon of architecture?

It’s called a “Jack Sack.” Jack Bauer always had his with him at all times. I can only imagine what all the Decatur Guys would carry in theirs. DM: that could be one of your random topics: “Hey, Decatur Man, what do you carry in YOUR purse (besides your hankies)?” ;)

Just my personal opinion, but I think ‘Eye on the Street’ should feature only Decatur street photos. Posting images like this as part of the ‘Eye on the Street’ series never really make sense to me. The same goes for other random images that I see from time to time that feature streets from -other- cities. If I wanted to see images of Kingsport, TN or Charleston, SC, I’ll do a search on Flickr.

And sure, if this guy is relevant to Decatur (is he? as a casual RSS reader, there’s no caption explaining what we’re even looking at… and despite the comments above me, I’m still not really sure who he is or why I should care), feel free to post the image on DM, but why label it ‘Eye on the Street’? :\

meant to say “…should feature only Decatur/Atlanta street photos.”
