    Lost Turtle in Oakhurst?

    Decatur Metro | May 29, 2011 | 2:14 pm

    Lost Turtle in Oakhurst!

Does anyone recognize this turtle? The old guy made his way into our neighbor’s backyard. He’s not moving too fast – probably had a rough night to kick off the weekend. Seems to respond to the name “Flash”.

Not a very clear picture but it looks like a snapper to me. If it has a hooked point on its bill I would stay away from it.

I saw a turtle just like this walking along the fence of the Agnes Scott retention pond on E. Davis last week. According to what I could gather from a cursory google search, if you see one wandering around on land between March and November it is probably looking for a place to lay eggs.

I just saw a turtle/tortoise come out of the bushes by my house, and it looks just like this one!! He is not afraid of me and is enjoying the sprinkler!!
I am not sure if this is common in Atlanta, but he seems pretty tame, so probably someones pet!!!
