      Call it the Pear Tree Super Speedway. Something about a sweeping curve apparently puts people in mind of a NASCAR track. Our condo complex’s wall, just past our pecan on the right, has the scars to prove it.

        They must depend on pollination from flies, which I guess would make stinking like rotten fish an evolutionary advantage. On the other hand, it certainly makes me less likely to plant them in my yard (that, and their propensity for splitting down the middle if someone so much as looks at them wrong).
