REALLY hope this happens. My wife LOVED hopping the route 2 bus, which stopped right at the top of our street, and riding it 20 minutes to Ga. Tech. She was very disconsolate when they took it away.

She has two and a half semesters left, and this would make them a LOT less painful.

YES! The return of the 2, The Mighty Ship of Ponce… As someone I know told me, Ponce has always been served by transit, as evidence by the historic trolley stop (that green wooden structure) just on the other side of the railroad overpass.

I used that bus for a number of years to get to work and to visit friends in the Ponce-Highlands area. I greatly miss it. Besides being a scenic route, it varied from Druid Hills to the dense urban street with a great variety of street life beyond Moreland, that route served a great variety of low and moderate folks who worked at jobs in schools and institutions along Ponce, students, Fernbank tourists, and others, who were left with no public transit option. So this is good news, if it happens!

We use to call that the “Number 2 Ponce”. When we were kids we’d catch it in Decatur and take it to the old Ponce de Leon Ballpark to watch the Crackers play. The stop at the ball park was literally 20 feet from the ticket booth. No parents, just us kids.

This is music to my ears!!! This route is usually much faster than the train to North Avenue, and I’ve really missed it since they’ve cut the route, along with many other of my fellow Decaturites. Wonderful news, will be at the hearing to support it!

      Does anyone remember it’s route?

Used to take the #2 weekly to Druid Hills and back from the North Avenue Station; a bus I could always count on. Used the Braves Shuttle on several occasions, too. Glad to see some public dialog on this. Curious — just what private shuttle to the Stadium are they talking about? And yes, Alex, we do remember the route.

There is no private shuttle, but the law says that, since MARTA is a publicly supported agency, they can’t charge extra for theirs. The same law says that MARTA cannot do charter service.

Looks like they are talking about driving the #2 to Decatur station, so it would turn in/out
on Commerce and not cover anything but West Ponce… Still, I would welcome its return!

I thought they were short-sighted to cancel the Braves Shuttle, which was always heavily used. They used to have too many buses idling too far before the games, but those were well-used buses.
