Where’d everyone go? HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Gary, I think everyone is sobering up still. Happy New Year!!
Blackeyed peas and homemade cornbread for lunch — Happy New Year! Does anyone know when Chinese New Year will be this year? I celebrate ALL holidays!
Chinese New year will be on Valentine’s Day. 2010 will be the year of the Tiger.
Thanks for this info. I’ll be ready for BOTH holidays. I was born in the year of the Tiger also :-))
If you are a Tiger, you should wear something red every day of the Year of the Tiger to ward off bad luck! I understand that a red fabric belt under your clothes is traditional, but anything will do.
Thanks for this info — I did not know! I’ll be prepared now!
I guess that Clemson and Auburn fans will have to be particularly vigilant in their choice of wardrobe if they play UGA this year.
And Mardi Gras is two days later if you are looking for holidays.
Then there is St Patricks Day month after that….
OK, Mardi Gras too! AND St. Patrick’s Day. This looks like a good year to celebrate every day we can, in whatever ways are good. And, share the holidays with others who may need a reason to look on the bright side.
Is TASTE doing ok? I was there looking for a Christmas gift, and it was kind of bare. I couldn’t find anything so I had to go to Heliotrope. maybe they just sold a lot of inventory but if that’s the case, I’m surprised they didn’t restock, as I visited the week before Christmas, when people do a lot of shopping. I love that place and hope it’s doing ok.
I was there in the middle of November and also noticed a lack of inventory. However, I was there again the first part of December and there definitely was more in the store, so maybe his orders were late arriving. There were alos several customers in the store at that time. Hopwfully, you week before Christmas visit indicated that he sold a lot of stock.
I’ve noticed a lack of inventory there for a long time. The store seemed to have a little more flair, in both amount of inventory and presentation, when it occupied a larger space. But I’m glad it still has lots of fans.
Lots of smaller retailers around the country bought holiday inventory sparingly this year after getting burned last year. Hopefully it’s a sign of wise inventory management, and not a sign of trouble. It’s a really nice little store.
Are the Button Cakes still being sold at Taste? I am obsessing on Yogurt Tap right now, but am curious….
Actually, I recall Carl tweeting something about how the owner moved and shut the business down. I never followed up on it though.
DM, thanks for the featured events calendar! I’d been hoping for something like this earlier in the year, and you got it just right. I hope all of us do a good job of submitting events- this could be a fabulous resource!
HUGE kudos on the calendar. What a fantastic resource. Will it get pinned to the top of the blog?
Great job, and many thanks.
Thanks guys!
When I get a free moment in the next couple days I’ll write a post to explain the new calendar in more depth. There’s actually a bit more to it than meets the eye.
Ted, yes. The calendar is permanently “pinned” between the first and second post.
Happy New Year!
Would anyone like a free Christmas tree?
Seriously, I have a 7.5 foot Canadian pine-artificial, of course, that I have replaced with a pre-lit tree. Seems a shame to just put it at the street…
If you have room for it, it’s yours for free.
have you checked out freecycle? it’s a yahoo group that you can join and list items that you want to get rid of, members of the group can respond to you and make arrangements for pickup.
Hey, AMB! I’m interested in the free tree. How should I go about contacting you…?

I may be dragging out a dead horse, but whatever happened to the proposed Costco next to N.Dekalb Mall?
I heard they will wait for the economy to recover.
DM, I hope you don’t forget that 12/31 was the last campaign disclosure reporting period for our municipal candidates. Am more than interested to see how our candidates spent or kept their money! Glad at least one candidate (now our Commissioner) pledged funds to the MLK work weekend!
Is anyone else having trouble reaching http://www.comcast.net, e.g. Comcast webmail?
