Outkast, The White Stripes, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper… The latest inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have just been announced.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has ended months of speculation by unveiling its list of new inductees. Among those honored this year are The White Stripes, the iconic duo of Jack and Meg White. Emerging as a global phenomenon at the turn of the millennium, the Detroit-based band has left an indelible mark on the landscape of modern rock.

Perhaps less expected but equally deserving is the induction of Outkast, the Atlanta duo that reshaped the rap scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Led by Big Boi and the creative genius of André 3000, Outkast pushed the boundaries of the genre, blending elements of soul, funk, electro, and beyond. Following the induction of A Tribe Called Quest last year, this recognition further signifies the Hall of Fame’s embrace of hip-hop.
Joining these headline acts in the 2025 class are Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Bad Company, and Chubby Checker in the “Performers” category.
Oasis and Joy Division/New Order Miss Out
In other categories, Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will be honored with the “Musical Influence” award, while producer and songwriter Thom Bell, keyboardist Nicky Hopkins, and bassist Carol Kaye will receive the “Musical Excellence” award. The Ahmet Ertegun Award, given to non-performers, will go to Lenny Waronker, the former president of Warner Bros Records.
However, Joy Division/New Order and Oasis, who were initially shortlisted, did not make the final cut. Nonetheless, it is uncertain if this exclusion will greatly affect them.
The induction ceremony is set to take place on November 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
