Event This Sunday Supports Oakhurst Family Who Lost Home to Fire

    Decatur Metro | July 16, 2016 | 9:03 am

    615-S.-McDonough-Fire

On Thursday, a fire destroyed the home at 615 S. McDonough.  Since the event, the Decatur community has stepped up to help the Hadley family, who lost their home.  There’s already a GoFundMe page set up to help provide support to the family.

Neighbors are also setting up an event for this Sunday to help raise additional funds and except donations for the family.  Lesley sends along this announcement about this Sunday’s event…

THIS Sunday 10am-2pm at the corner of McDonough and Oakview

Please come out and show your love and support to the Hadley Family who sadly lost their home in Oakhurst to a fire on Thursday July 14th.  We will be selling lemonade and bake goods to raise money to help them get back on their feet.  Come early to get mini doughnuts and lemonade donated by Revolution Doughnuts!!  We will also have many homemade baked goods!  Any amount of donation (including gift cards for groceries, Target, etc) is greatly welcomed.

We will also have bins available for donation items needed by the family. Please see the list below for their most immediate needs:

The boys are sizes 9/10 and 3T/4T.  Shoe sizes are 3 and 9/10.

Rain and/or winter gear (rainboots, coats, warm clothes such as jeans, sweatshirts, etc)
Couple pairs of pajamas for each of the kiddos
    Picture books for boys
Chapter books for grade 3-4 boys (Harry Potter, Roald Dahl etc)
    Dress Up Clothing (boy centric)
    Trucks/trains/cars to push or pull

Legos (for both small and older kiddos)

We love how amazing this community is and how quick everyone is to show their support!

I can’t make it but I’d like to bake and drop off items on Saturday for the bake sale. Could someone tell me who to contact for this? Thank you!
