That development has a nice ocean view!
Wow, let’s annex that oceanfront! Forget the water slide and go for the body surfing!
Fuqua had four requests – including: “4. allow a drive‐through restaurant”
There are 3 drive-thru requests: likely a bank, a pharmacy, and a restaurant. Which, in my opinion, is fine if they design it in a way to protect pedestrians. It’s on a 6-lane US highway.
There are two SLUP requests. The other one is for a bank drive-thru.
(There was an error on the agenda summary. The actual agenda has it right.)
Fuqua is seeking to put an upscale quick concept restaurant (most likely, Panera Bread) in the far left building on Scott Blvd. All drive-thru action will occur within the site. Drive-thrus require a SLUP. Starbucks at Suburban Plaza went through the same process.
* Fuqua had addressed all traffic related issues ahead of the last hearing. MANA’s post represents MANA’s views, not the full CNC’s. (It also seems to be saying that the Good Growth DeKalb rep is now considered to be a MANA rep too.)
[I’m the DHNA’s rep on the CNC.]
A drive-through Panera is dangerous to both my waistline and my budget!
How are all the new residents going to cross N. Decatur Road to get to the Walmart without getting killed?
Are they building a pedestrian bridge?
Selig is installing a traffic light at the N. Decatur Rd entrance into Suburban Plaza. If Fuqua’s Phase II is approved, Blackmon Dr will be realigned with the traffic light. There will be a crosswalk for folks to safely cross. Both projects include wider sidewalks that entire section of N. Decatur Rd (and within the developments) for safer, more enjoyable pedestrian travel.
Do they have permission to use “Decatur” in the name? The city should get that copyrighted and collect licensing fees! 😉
A decade or more back, when the DeKalb Industrial strip with the Kroger was breaking ground, it was announced that the project would be called “Decatur Square.” Then, like magic (and following some expressed “displeasure” by city hall), it was rechristened “North Decatur Square.”
Don’t know to what, if any, degree there was actual coercion.
Very interesting – thanks for the history. I can just imagine how folks might have gotten lost over there looking for Brick Store or Raging Burrito.
Oh, the humanity.
“Postal Decatur Crossing”?
Aptly named, since Decatur peeps are cross about it, amiright?
This Decatur “peep” (and I’m not alone) is not cross about it at all. So, no, you’renotright.
