Pinewood’s “Proof” Cocktail Syrups To Become Available Statewide

    Decatur Metro | May 22, 2015 | 10:15 am

    Proof-1613

You may have seen these squat little fellas in the beer/wine and liquor stores around Decatur over the few months.

Atlanta Magazine reports that the Pinewood Tippling Room‘s Proof Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup is about to undergo a major expansion.

In June, United Distributors, a large liquor wholesaler covering Georgia and Alabama, will place Proof in more than 80 package stores, up from the 12 in which it’s now available. To meet demand, the partners have hired a couple of workers just to help make syrup, and recently bought a machine to affix the attractive labels to the 32-ounce bottles that sell for $22.

The mag reports that the syrups were “born out of our laziness”.  Apparently after making cocktails for 8 hours, you might not be so excited about mixing one up yourself.

Pinewood joins a host of other local brick-and-mortar establishments in Decatur (Feather Baby, Sawicki’s, etc) that have thriving businesses that extend beyond walk-in traffic.

Slight threadjack here. Pinewood makes an excellent Old Fashioned, though I slightly prefer the one at Ink & Elm, which is truly excellent. Less good — C&A (I recall they used a spritz of club soda) and 246 (way too much ice).

Agreed on Pinewood, and now with the Proof syrup I can pretty much match it at home with ease (though they have better quality ice). Will have to try the one at Ink & Elm.

I will have to pick up some of this stuff. I imagine they have it at Decatur Package Store?

Thanks. Just bought some today along with a bottle of Four Roses Small Batch. Will test it out a little later.
