Fellini’s & La Fonda Owners Announce New Restaurants Coming To 4 Corners in East Lake

UPDATE: Even more good info on the project from Tomorrow’s News Today…

Fellini’s founders bringing new restaurants to East Lake.

Fellini’s Pizza and La Fonda Latina owners Mike Nelson and Clay Harper and their partners, Jay Martin and Nathan Bolster, are bringing multiple restaurant concepts to the corners of Second Avenue and Hosea Williams Drive in East Lake. The restaurants will be located less than a mile from the prestigious East Lake Golf Club.

The East Lake Foundation and CF Foundation, Inc. partnered to bring the new restaurants to the neighborhood. The properties were purchased by the CF Foundation in 2005, but the originally planned construction was halted due to the recession. The sale to the Fellini’s group is good sign for the strength of the neighborhood and its prospects for the future. “This investment will provide East Lake residents with a much needed destination for good, affordable, interesting food and drink” said Rick Bent, VP Real Estate and Development, CF Foundation, Inc.v

Over the next couple of months, construction will begin to convert the former gas station on the northwest corner into The Greater Good BBQ, the group’s fast-casual barbecue concept. The owners hope to have The Greater Good opened later this fall. On the southeast corner, the restaurateurs will modify the existing green building (formerly home to One Stop food market) for two new restaurant concepts with outdoor seating, and to construct a third, small restaurant. These additional concepts will follow The Greater Good, likely opening early next year.

TNT also notes that none of the restaurants will be Fellini’s or La Fonda locations.

    From the Atlanta Business Chronicle…

The corners of Second Avenue and Hosea Williams Drive in East Lake will soon be home to new restaurant concepts from the owners of Fellini’s Pizza and La Fonda Latina. The East Lake Foundation and CF Foundation Inc. reported Fellini’s and La Fonda owners Mike Nelson and Clay Harper with partners Jay Martin and Nathan Bolster bought the land at the four corners and plan “multiple restaurant concepts’ on the sites. This includes converting an old gas station on the northwest corner into The Greater Good BBQ, a fast-casual family-friendly restaurant. On the Southeast corner, the restaurateurs will modify an existing building for two new restaurant concepts with outdoor seating and later add a third new small restaurant.

Wow. I remember in the ’60s when that was an active, nice-but-not-fancy neighborhood shopping corner. This has been a long time coming…..

I remember in the 80s and 90s that that corner was known as “the most dangerous intersection in Atlanta” — a place to be avoided. glad it’s finally turning back around.
