Work Begins at Trinity Triangle Site

    Decatur Metro | September 4, 2014 | 9:37 am

    dq

Fusica sent in this pic this morning and reports that at the Dairy Queen site has finally begun after months of remaining vacant.

The building s being demolished to make way for the Trinity Triangle mixed-use project, which at last report will contain a DQ operated by the same owners who ran the stand-alone location.

The Trinity Triangle was originally set to break ground in June/July but development was held up by storm water requirements.  Last month the city commission voted to allow use of the water detention vault at Beacon Hill.

How on earth do they get their stormwater runoff from here all the way over to Beacon Hill?

There’s been a phased project going on for years. There’s now all new storm infrastructure running down East Maple Street, under McDonough, through the DHS site and through DHA to the new park and detention facility.

I hope they are paying a hefty impact fee to route their stormwater to the vault. That thing had to cost a fortune to build.

Dang! I was hoping to salvage the DQ signs before they just tore everything down. They have to have some value.

Hang one on your house and start selling Blizzards and dipped cones and I’ll help you realize some of that value immediately.

Would’ve been more fitting for a blizzard to finally take it down.

I guess that’s one way to get people to stop cutting through the parking lot . . .
