Good Morning Decatur! I noticed that the Victory Sandwich Bar is hosting their annual Luau on Sunday. Has anyone here ever been to that event?

From the AJC: “The city’s venerable Dairy Queen, now closed for nearly 26 months, will open on Arlo’s ground floor …. ‘I’d like to say (DQ) will open in the summer,’ Collins said. ‘But not until I hear that they actually have permits in hand (from the city) will I venture a guess. They’re supposed to get them in the near future.'” Anybody know anybody to help DQ move along? I miss my Blizzards!

Oh please let this be operational by late August. We’d really like to uphold our tradition of stopping for a Blizzard en route to the hospital for the birth of our next child, and she’s due Sept. 1.

I know we’ve discussed how that fancy coffee shop is going into half of the old 5th Earl and Arepa Mia is expanding into the other half but I just noticed the (former?) salon on the corner has the windows papered up. Anyone know what’s up for that space?

Dean wrote in this morning and reported that the cones are back up on Commerce…

“Well the unobstructed Commerce Drive lasted about a week! As of yesterday there was equipment on the sidewalk and cones blocking the right lane to provide parking spaces – I guess work workers at the
      condos.”

      Foot/ankle pain. Podiatrist recommendations, please.

Our family has used Dr. Ingie El-Kashab. She was highly recommended by our physical therapist, and we were very happy with her. She was on Scott Blvd. next to Intown Ace but has moved to 1462 Montreal Rd #316, Tucker, GA 30084 (404) 373-7004. Good luck!

Dr. Perry Julien at Atlanta Foot and Ankle. He’s on Roswell Road just inside I-285, but worth the drive.
        5600 Roswell Road, Suite M-190, Atlanta, GA 30342. (404) 255-9131

I second that recommendation for Dr. Julien. He is fantastic, doesn’t push meds or surgery as a first option and has great bedside manner.

Our house sold much faster than anticipated (YAY!), but now we need a place while we look for another house to purchase. Anyone have a 3 bedroom available for rent inside COD? Alternatively, we’re looking for a 5 bed/3+ bath, preferably not newly built, inside the city.

This could work as your new home as it has a large finished 3rd floor.

I just wanted to put in a word for Michael Callahan, a local handyman who has installed two separate gates in our home to keep the little one contained. His prices are reasonable, he finished the work quickly and he was an absolute pleasure to work with. If you have odd jobs around the home, he’s the guy to contact. He can be reached at [email protected]

We always used leashes. Much cheaper than gates or fences. 🙂

The Invisible Fence works well too. Just run the wires along the baseboards.

Who knew? I thought the city swept the streets, but based on the actions of the neighbor’s lawn care service, all I need to do is blow whatever debris is on the street in front of my house into my neighbor’s yard. Those lawn service people sure are clever!

The guys who do CVS’s downtown landscaping do the same thing – they just blow it all into Commerce Drive. There ought to be a law … (wait, I bet there is)

Just drove through CVS parking lot. I saw 3 cars booted. The guy is in the lot now. Beware. Personally, I am done with those businesses. Know it is not their fault, but it is the only lever I can push. I also understand it is private property and the people booted are at fault, but I do not care. I have heard too many stories of overly aggressive enforcement to risk parking their under any circumstance. Plus I like the Emory village cvs much more. Wish noodle place would switch back to their doc Cheys concept.

Another option is to lobby your City Commissioners. They currently are considering an ordinance to clamp down on aggressive booting.

        Uh, sorry about that….

I don’t believe you’ll find CVS @Emory Village any more forgiving based upon my college years. I use CVS next to Dekalb Medical because it’s 24/7.
