Dairy Queen Signs Lease for Trinity Triangle Location

    Decatur Metro | May 12, 2015 | 1:55 pm

    dq

    It’s official folks!

The AJC is reporting that at long last the owner of the Decatur Dairy Queen, Nisar Momin, signed a lease with Centro Development last week to open a new location at Trinity Triangle (aka “Arlo”).

Also of note, the AJC reports that Asst. City Manager Lyn Menne told them that Centro “agreed to a rental rate considerably below market rate to make it happen”.

According to the blurb, the new location likely won’t open until Spring 2016.

Work Begins at Trinity Triangle Site

    Decatur Metro | September 4, 2014 | 9:37 am

    dq

Fusica sent in this pic this morning and reports that at the Dairy Queen site has finally begun after months of remaining vacant.

The building s being demolished to make way for the Trinity Triangle mixed-use project, which at last report will contain a DQ operated by the same owners who ran the stand-alone location.

The Trinity Triangle was originally set to break ground in June/July but development was held up by storm water requirements.  Last month the city commission voted to allow use of the water detention vault at Beacon Hill.

    Decaturish: Dairy Queen’s Future “Uncertain”

    Decatur Metro | February 18, 2014 | 1:30 pm

Many of you have asked for more info on Dairy Queen’s impending closing.  Decaturish just posted a new report from the restaurant.  Here’s the intro…

The word got out that the Decatur Dairy Queen will close soon. Loyal customers stormed the store on Monday to pay their respects.

Dairy Queen closes on Feb. 22 after 30 years in business. It will be razed as part of a plan to develop apartments on Trinity Place. But the DQ will be back in the new development. Right?

Maybe not, the owners say. They put a sign on the store that said “We will be back in new development.” The sign doesn’t say that the message is more of a hope than a promise.
