Best Holiday Light Displays in Decatur?
Decatur Metro | December 12, 2013 | 9:04 am
An excellent question/post-suggestion from Kristin…
Could you do a post asking people to comment on best decorated houses in the area? Taking the kids around to see the lights on Thursday night and I’m not sure where to go! Thank you.
After we gather all the locations, perhaps we could then brainstorm the best route to drive…uh…I mean walk! bike! scoot! Phew…that was close.

If you know where Murphy St. is, you can check that street out…..it is off of Ponce de Leon from dowtown Decatur and crossing over N. Decatur Rd. into Scottdale. It is on the left side past N. Druid Hills Rd. The neighbors decorate and light their houses up and people came to see the display, jamming up the street. I am not sure they still do this? Does anyone know? There used to be a house on Decatur Street, off Ponce de Leon, near the Scottdale P.O. that was lit up and decorated but it is gone now.
The main Murphey street decorator is gone now, but there are still a few houses with lights over there. It’s between McLendon Drive and Valley Brook off East Ponce.
Adair St. is always worth the drive!
I love the red and white striped trees on Adair!
It’s not within the city limits but you did say “in the area” so I’ll throw out there that Christmas in the Grove is amazing. It’s in Oak Grove and it’s one of those displays where the lights dance to music (on a special local radio station). I think it’s a must see! Info is at christmas in the grove dot net.
+1
Yep, just came from the Oak Grove one. Pretty nice. According to a sign in the yard it’s going to be on some contest show on ABC, December 23.
It is worth the trip out of Decatur to see the house with 100 or so inflatables in the yard– I think it is at the corner of Peachtree Dunwoody and Windall Down, in Brookhaven.
The Decatur newsletter mentioned 1428 oak grove drive but I haven’t been by to check it out.

And if that didn’t work, just go to Youtube and search for “Slayer Christmas Lights 2013″.
