Winnona Park Elementary Principal Greg Wiseman recently braved the ripples and lily pads of the elementary school pond for this gripping photo op.
Thanks to Ilene and Chris for the great pic!

Cool! Pretty sure that’s a canoe, though.
Ooops!
just to see if it would fit?
That is a whitewater open canoe.
There are several of us whitewater boaters hidden amongst the streets of Decatur — no idea that Greg Wiseman was one of them.
Portage to Brickstore?
Did Greg lose a bet?
Putting the expedition into expeditionary learning!
Winner!
Did he squire the appropriate pond disturbance permit before putting in?
I’ve been looking for a place to canoe around here!
But seriously- anyone have any favorite spots? I’ve only really taken mine on the hoochie and on a couple of lakes in N. GA.
I hope he didn’t kill any fish with that paddle! I’m sure he’s violating one of the EL Design Principles.
Another Winner!
(extra points in scoring for the use of the terms design principle, rubric, authentic, differentiated, expeditionary, evidence-based, and baccalaureate.)
A little background – The picture was taken for our school yearbook, leaked by a certain school librarian who will remain nameless.
Alex TPG – If you’re getting bored of the metro Hooch, I suggest a drive to the Toccoa River upstream from Lake Blue Ridge, about a 2 hour drive. Easy access, pretty scenery, and class I & II rapids. Once that get’s old, it’s all about the Nantahala River. 8 miles of pure open boating heaven. This book is a must: Canoeing & Kayaking Georgia, by Suzanne Welander, et al.

dsw – I know where you live.
Why does his canoe read, “PROBE 12″?
