Semi Hits Utility Poll in Downtown Decatur
Decatur Metro | January 16, 2012This was the scene in downtown Decatur this afternoon around 5pm, as Decatur Police and the Fire department closed the intersection of Trinity and North McDonough Street to deal with a semi-truck that was stretched along the southeast corner of the intersection.
The truck knocked down a utility poll and with it a traffic light and power lines stretching down Trinity. If you look closely at this picture, you can see a red vertical pole along the left side of this photo holding up power lines off the street.

Is this happening in the future?
Now, if we could just get that semi to hit a Zogby poll, so those @ssholes would stop calling me asking me what I think about the candidates…
Buy one of those canned air horns…
Count me against it.
Check “POLL” v. “POLE” in headline…
+1
Well, I was kinda trying to do that without being too obvious about it, but clearly didn’t achieve my objective!
Used to do that all the time myself. You just gotta learn to go full-on a-hole from the start
LOL! As opposed to full-on r–ard” (shades of “Tropic Thunder”)???
Never go full re*ard! Ask Sean Penn, 2001, “I Am Sam.” Remember? Went full re*ard, went home empty handed…
Dang, that’s right! Sheesh– so that advice was actually true…I’m SO going to hell for laughing at it.
One more argument for burying the utilities and torching the poles!
The story continues. Wednesday, 7:30AM I was sitting one car back from the Chick-Fil-A drive thru window when the Food Service tractor trailer entered the parking lot. Unfortunately they didn’t pull all the wires high enough from Sunday’s accident. The trailer pulled down a light pole and the offending wire. I was blowing the horn and waving but the driver did not get the message until it was too late.
Thanks for the eyewitness account! I created a new post to update the story.
