Car Crashes Into “Edible Arrangements” in North Decatur Publix Plaza
Decatur Metro | October 26, 2009The AJC reports that a car crashed into the “Edible Arrangements” on North Decatur Road in the Publix plaza on Sunday.
I drove by this mess yesterday afternoon and snapped the crappy pic above (if you look closely you’ll notice the broken out windows to the left and DeKalb cops & firefighters to the right). From my passing glance it looked like the damage was confined to the shop windows.
According to the AJC, the shop was closed at the time of the accident and no one was injured.
At this rate, the owners of the center should consider making the entire center a giant drive-thru. First Evans, then UPS, now Edible Arrangements. Next up: Publix “Drive The Aisles Event”.
Very true. That’s some first-rate strip mall design!
I wonder if insurers take that sort of thing into account when providing rates…
Sheesh! Hope no one was hurt. Does anyone know whether the driver was infirm/DUI, elderly, or just temporarily lost control of the wheel? Just curious… When we lived in Virginia, our neighbors’ apartment was crashed into by a truck driven by a guy who was so drunk he swore he thought he was at the Hardee’s drive-thru! (It was only funny the day afterward, once we were all sure no one had been injured.)
So crazy that this happened…earlier on Sunday the same thing happened over in our church parking lot in Buckhead. It appears that the elderly driver’s accelerator peddle was either stuck or mistaken for the brake.
So glad no one was hurt.
I was just at Kinkos next door Saturday and noted to myself how screwed up the parking lot flow and markings were. Just about everyone was getting it wrong. I have to wonder if that didn’t contribute to this accident.
someon ran into decatur first united about 2 weeks ago from the wachovia parking lot..
I heard it was a teenager who was driving while their father instructed – seems the teenager got flustered and hit the wrong pedal – not the best place to perform a driving lesson .
I believe they are all OK.
The Kinkos is not in this parking lot either – that’s across the street – the markings in both are pretty clear though?
Ooooh, poor kid. I did that once and landed in a snowbank in front of several football team members who had to help us dig out. I hadn’t driven before and was touching the accelerator too gently when my father got impatient and told me to step on it. So I did. Caused a lot less damage to the vehicle and surroundings but I died of embarrassment for weeks.
