The Case of the Missing Newspaper Boxes

    Decatur Metro | December 31, 2008 | 1:06 pm

    Leedle is looking for answers…

Does anyone know what happened to all of the newspaper boxes at the corner of Ponce and Ponce de Leon Place? Skirt Magazine, Creative Loafing, Sunday Paper, etc have all gone missing and no one seems to know why/how. A woman from Decatur dispatch told me that she had contacted the City of Decatur and that they didn’t know either…

If anyone knows the answer, please post.  Otherwise, I think we might need to call in the Hardy Boys and/or Nancy Drew.

The City did collect a number of boxes that were either not permitted; were not in the place they were permitted for; or, were in violation of the City’s ordinance. If you are concerned about a specific box, contact Amanda Thompson, Planning Director at 404-370-4104. The City will be closed Thursday 1/1 and Friday 1/2 in addition to the weekend so try you will need to call on or after January 5th.

Now maybe we can take a look at the long row of boxes on Church St south of the MARTA station. I thought one of the points of the permitting process was to not have farms of boxes like those.
