Three-Wheeled Electric Car Dealership Coming to Decatur?

    Decatur Metro | August 7, 2008 | 4:04 pm

Pretty soon, Jim Baskett’s electric vehicle might not be the novelty it once was.

The AJC has a little post today about the former President of Perrelli Tire, Guy Mannino, who’s opening up his first ZAP dealership this Saturday in Augusta.  (Yes…Augusta)  The article goes on to say that two other dealerships will open in Georgia, one in Decatur and one near GA Tech.  No address or specific location is given.

ZAPs are three-wheeled electric cars and pickups, which according to Mannino, cost 2 cents a mile to drive and can go 45 miles between charges. According to the article, ZAP also sells scooters and Segway-like devices.

Is Twist and Scoot, which hasn’t even opened yet, already getting some local competition?  Hard to tell without an address.

That little green one (or one like it) in the left of your picture was parked at Twist & Scoot last week. Saw it while at Dancing Goats and spent awhile looking at it–looks like a fun vehicle, I’d buy one. Maybe Twist & Scoot will be the ones selling them?

Just looking at your post again, it was indeed the green one in the pic, because I distinctly recall it said ZAP on the car.

This is the kind of business that needs to come to Decatur. Bravo to Twist and Scoot and these electric car guys. You rule for having the fortitude to risk bringing something truly new and cool to our town.

Good observation dedogur. Could possibly be that they’re referring to selling ZAPs at Twist and Scoot. But if that’s the case…it sure is phrased oddly in the article.
