Cartoon Network’s “Neverfail” Filming in Decatur

September 1, 2010 | 9:53 am

Cartoon Network has been filming parts of its new movie “Neverfail” around the city of Decatur the last couple days.  The city’s Katie Abel confirms that it is still Cartoon Network who’s filming, though it seems that the name of the movie has changed.

I can confirm this is still the film production company, Alive and Kicking. They are shooting a film to be shopped to Cartoon Network called Lords of Bad Axe- some kind of live action teen film with some computer generated scenes as well. If all goes according to plan, today will be their last day in Decatur.

Rachel sent in the first pic of filming action on East Howard Avenue yesterday around 4pm.  Marla sent in the second pic of Greene’s having been converted into “Daventry Hills City Hall”.

InDecatur notes an open casting call for extras of posted on Facebook for today’s filming…

For Wednesday 9/1 we are looking for several folks for “Neverfail” all day in Decatur, we need several men and women 18 – 25 a few in their 30′s and 40′s some to be business types, a few in their 60′s, two people that are very experienced cyclists with their own bikes and a mom with a stroller. All interested email recent photo all contact info and color and make of car to: extrascastingatl@gmail.com ASAP

Good luck finding someone with a bike or a stroller in Decatur!  Har har.

Decatur High Students Filming Around Decatur

July 7, 2010 | 3:37 pm

The answer to what was filming at Sammiches n’ Stuff a few days back is news in itself.  From DHS student Ben Lambeth…

I’d like to announce the production of “Confessions of Vengeance.” Completely written and directed by recent Decatur High School graduate Ben Lambeth, and produced by fellow graduate Marcus Matkins, this short action film follows Frank, an ex-gangster who must return to his mob family in order to avenge his sister’s death.

Over the past week, a cast consisting of many stars from DHS’s production of “Hamlet” and nearly a hundred local volunteers have worked day and night in locations such as Kudzu Antiques, Sammiches N’ Stuff (which one Decatur Metro reader seems to have spotted), and locations in Avondale Estates to get the project shot. We are expecting to wrap up production before the end of July.

To follow the movie’s production, I’ve set up a Facebook page, and a website is in the works:

With the magnitude of this project, I can safely say this is the biggest locally-produced student film to come out of Decatur in history.

Wicked.

Sequel of “My Super Psycho Sweet Sixteen” Filming in Decatur

July 6, 2010 | 11:27 am

Oh Decatur, you get the greatest movies.

Travis writes in…

According to an important looking guy with a walkie-talkie on set “My Super Psycho Sweet Sixteen“ Part 2 is being filming over at Central Auto Sales on E. College Ave. I’m guessing that’s what was also being filmed at Sammiches N’ Stuff.

Two more pics after the jump.

Filming at Sammiches n’ Stuff

July 5, 2010 | 5:18 pm

Lewis writes in…

With 4th of July celebrations, this was my first chance to send this in. I was walking in Decatur last Thursday night and spotted what looked like a movie shoot going on in Sammiches N’ Stuff. Looks like they replaced the hanging sign too. I snapped some pics, sending them to you. Got any info on what this is about?

Hopefully Cheryl Burnette, the city of Decatur’s Assistant Director of Everything, has the answer!

A close up of the sign out front can be viewed after the jump.

Hi-Tech Continues To Add Fake Brands To Collection

August 17, 2009 | 11:06 am

I’m not sure why Hi-Tech is keeping all of its recent movie signage up – unless it’s attempting to become a major stop on some non-existent Decatur Movie Bus Tour – but god help any unsuspecting driver who pulls in to our eccentric gas station for a fill up.

Marla sends in these pics posted on Photobucket…

Early August Filming News

August 7, 2009 | 9:44 am

Whoever thought filming tax credits could provide so much joy?

The Decatur Minute, with it’s close proximity to all Decatur permits, gives word of Past Life filming around the intersection of Ponce and North Candler today.

Also, Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva is returning to film around the Square next Monday.

The Filming Continues

July 25, 2009 | 3:17 pm

Has the novelty worn off yet?

Cheryl reports over on The Decatur Minute that an indie film entitled Shrinking Charlotte will film in Decatur some time in August.  The romantic comedy about “three single men who stalk and date a woman in therapy” stars Brittney Murphy, Sam Trammell, Billy Zane and Kathleen Turner, according to IMDB.

Ah, the trials and tribulations of imaginary life.

Reports of Filming Have Not Been Over-Exaggerated

July 22, 2009 | 9:33 am

Georgia’s new, massive tax breaks for film studios have turned the city of Atlanta into a movie set overnight!

Once free to live there lives in relative peace, residents are now reporting having to fight with big-glasses-wearing famous people over silm milk and Truvia at the local coffee shop and attempting to open doors in cardboard-cutout buildings.  (Disclosure: The previous sentence is untrue and should be viewed as creative-license gone horribly wrong) It’s madness not seen since the Villa Rica goldrush!

There have been THREE reports of filming around the city and its surrounding environs in recent days. First there was a report on Twitter recently about filming in Oakhurst this past week.  Then this morning the city’s Cheryl Burnette reports filming in the Economy parking lot at Arcadia and College.  And finally, Rob writes in about some pretty intense filming going on in Candler Park…

Have you heard any info on what is being filmed at the corner of Oakdale and Iverson (block north of Candler Pk Marta station)? For the past few days, dozens of trucks have been parked outside the house on the corner lot. And today, as I walked by on my way to the station, a cherry picker was hoisting lighting equipment. And this afternoon on my walk back through, the back yard was a-buzz with what appeared to be actors taking their marks. There are no signs anywhere about it though.

Do I know what any of this is?  Of course not.  If you do, please fill the rest of us in.
