  1. If this third installment is half as good as the first two, Decatur will see the benefit for generations. Much like Colorado’s Stanley Hotel from “The Shining,” film locations are sure to become major tourist draws. “Barbershop” and “Barbershop 2: Back in Business” were landmark achievements in film. “Barbershop 3: Ain’t Done Yet” is destined to be an absolute masterpiece of cinema.

Entertaining, poignant, and inventive in their storytelling, the Barbershop Trilogy (as it will soon be known) boasts iconic performances from O’Shea Jackson, Sr. (Ice Cube) and Cedric “The Entertainer” Kyles and sets a high bar for its genre. Taking place in the fictional Calvin’s Barbershop in the South Side of Chicago, the Barbershop canon is fueled by unsurpassed writing and direction. No surprise producers chose downtown Decatur as a substitute for Chicago’s South Side, both known for symbolizing safe, family-friendly charm.

If you pass by filming, be sure to tip your caps to MGM and their singular focus on creating artistic classics!

        1. “Barbershop 3” is actually the fourth installment in the series if you count the prequel “Don’t Mess with the Zohan” which is cleverly based on Shakespeare’s “King Lear.” It’s obvious when Sandler’s character says “By all the operation of the orbs, From whom we do exist, and cease to be.”
