You may have noticed even more activity than usual at Dancing Goats this morning. Film crews, Decatur Police and catering trucks have set up shop in and around the coffee shop.
We reached out to the city’s Shirley Baylis – the city’s special events and community outreach coordinator – and she told us Fox 2000’s “Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda” is filming there today.
According to Deadline, the “coming of age” novel – which the film is based on…
…focuses on Simon Spier, a 16-year-old not-so-openly gay student. When an email written by Simon falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being made public. Change-averse Simon is forced to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out — in a way that won’t alienate his friends, compromise himself or ruin a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he hasn’t even met yet. “coming-of-age pic based on Becky Albertelli’s debut novel.”
Deadline noted in a follow up post that the film stars Katherine Langford, “the Aussie newcomer who is co-starring in Netflix’s upcoming YA series 13 Reasons Why“, Nick Robinson and Logan Miller.

The next time you get into a passionate argument with a fellow ATL intowner about who’s urban-wonderland has the best Trick-or-Treating, feel free to use this as a trump card for Decatur.
From Atlanta Magazine’s summary of The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln’s appearance at Walker Stalker Con Atlanta…
Lincoln celebrated Halloween by taking his two kids trick-or-treating in Decatur with fellow Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal (Shane) and his children. His costume? “I looked a little bit like a terrorist,” Lincoln said. “It was actually a really nice evening. I didn’t get stopped once.”
See. Our Halloween festivities are SO great, not only do we have the biggest TV stars joining in and roaming the neighborhood on All Hallow’s Eve, but we don’t even bother to bother them! 🙂

UPDATE: AP journalist Ron Harris also wrote this on Twitter just a few minutes ago…
We had heard a couple of rumors that Andrew Lincoln took in Oakhurst Porchfest yesterday. Welp, this Instagram post from April seems to confirm that The Walking Dead star was in attendance!
Hee hee. File this under, “ummm…..OK”. From TMZ…
Norman Reedus‘ rep tells TMZ, the actor’s relationship with former co-star Emily Kinney is strictly platonic.
We got these pics of Norman and Emily at Paper Plane, a dive bar in Decatur, GA. It looks real chummy, but the two have been good pals for a while and that’s it.
She had a concert in the area earlier in the evening and they hung out afterward.

A note on The Decatur Minute this morning stated that there would be filming at Ebster Rec Center and across the street at the Decatur Housing Authority. Here’s the note…
The City of Decatur has issued a film permit to Shadowlight Pictures for a television project today. The project will film at Ebster Recreation Center as well as on the Decatur Housing Authority property at the corner of Trinity and Electric Avenue. Decatur police will be present at both locations. We do anticipate intermittent traffic control for about twenty minutes in the afternoon. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
We followed up with the city’s Katie Abel for details and she told us that ESPN Game Day is shooting promotional footage. She added “It looks pretty cool over there”.
