Wahoo! Opening Wine & Provisions Store Next Door
Decatur Metro | October 2, 2014 | 11:00 amPeter sent in this picture and notes that Wahoo! restaurant is announcing (via window signs) that they will be opening a “Wine and Provisions” shop in the old Ink & Dagger Tattoo Parlor next door.
No further details out there yet, but we’re going to hunt around and see what we can find out.
Decatur’s answer to Star Provision?
I hope so!
Having seen a number of places come and go trying to sell wine here in town, I really hope they overcome what seems to be the most common problem: Failure to specialize in and stock “high-value” wines — ones in the $9-15 range that are uncharacteristically good. Not at the expense of better bottles but included with them.
Herb’s does a great job at this. That there’s the model, IMO.
yup, Candler Park Market rocks that model with great success.
add a good selection of fresh breads, cheeses, and charcuterie, and i’ll be a diehard.
Man I can’t stand the word “provisions” as it’s used these days. Makes it sound like people buying wine and “charcuterie” (another word I can’t stand – whatever happened to the good ole “deli counter”) are setting off on the Oregon Trail instead of getting food to take back to $800K McCraftsmans. At least artisanal doughnuts are still doughnuts, which can be appreciated by all walks of life.
It’s all part of the dream of the 1890’s, man.
simma down, Parker—i’m sure they’ll be carrying vienna sausages, potted meat, and saltines too.
*flatlined* at this comment… 😀
Does anyone know how/if that survey of “What are the top three stores for which you leave Decatur to shop” is applied for business applications with the city? Just wondering because I don’t remember seeing much about beer and wine in the list.
It’s not applied at all. Anyone is free to open whatever (allowable) business they want. But it does factor into our economic development efforts by setting the list for the type of businesses we actively try to recruit.
Rumors of a wine shop in the present Bakery position at Cakes and Ale.
What will happen to the bakery/café? I like it.
Same here. And can’t see the need for a wine shop with Cooks just down the street.
I give the the concept a thumbs up! Hope it works out
I hope they do wine growlers like Three Parks in Glenwood Park.
I always growl when I drink wine.
Then I hope they do you.
Dang! Looks like I missed my chance to get a tattoo!
Ink and Dagger moved to Roswell. Russ is one of the best ink artists in the country. Much of his business comes from out of town.
